Privacy

What we collect, and what we don't

Globe Quiz has no accounts, no ads, no cookies and no third-party analytics. We use your IP address only to work out which country you are in, and we never store it.

In short

What is stored

WhatWhy
A random device ID, kept in your browser's storageSo you can answer once a day and come back to your result
Your answer (which option, and whether it was right), with the date and timeTo calculate the percentages
Your country and continent, worked out from your IP addressTo show results by country and continent
Visits and taps on "Copy result", with the link you came from (the referring site, and any ?src= tag)To see how many people use the quiz and how they find it

The device ID is a random string created in your browser. It is not linked to your name, email or any account.

Your IP address

When you load the page or answer, our server looks up your country in a database file kept on the server itself. No outside service is asked. The IP address is then discarded.

To stop one network from answering many times, we keep a scrambled code (a one-way hash) made from your IP address and a random value that changes every day. That code is only usable on the day it was made: when the day ends, the random value is deleted and the codes are cleared, so nobody, including us, can turn them back into an IP address.

If you use a VPN, you will be counted in the VPN's country.

What we don't do
